CERTAIN ACTS AND ACTIONS CONSIDERED AS DISCIPLINARY OFFENCES

The following articles list the primary unacceptable acts and actions conflicting with the code of student conduct and discipline. In addition to this list, the relevant provisions of the rules and regulations, policies, procedures and directives issued by YÖK and ÖzU must also be taken into account.

Academic Dishonesty

  • To use information from a downloaded and/or printed source without any due citation (plagiarism)
  •  To refer either intentionally or unintentionally to another source as the original source of a citation
  •  To present an assignment written either wholly or in part by another student as being one’s own and/or to write an assignment either wholly or in part for another student
  • To sell or distribute lecture notes or recordings for commercial purposes
  •  To obtain information relating to examination before the date of examination
  • To cheat or to aid and abet another to cheat during the examination

The articles above apply to all ENGLISH courses. The UGE shall define plagiarism and academic dishonesty as follows:

  • Passing off another person’s work as your own (i.e. copying)
  • Using ideas from another source without using correct citation
  • Paying or asking someone else to write a paper and passing it off as your own work
  • Submitting a piece of work that mainly consists of ideas from other sources (even if correctly cited)
  • Including incorrect citation information with the deliberate aim of misleading the reader.
